Pelahatchie jobs
It's been a good few months for the folks in Pelahatchie.

Word came late last year that Multicraft Trillium would relocate a major manufacturing facility to town, bringing with it 200 jobs. That plant is now up and running, and businesses are already reaping the benefits of the additional people in town.
Now comes news that Mississippi Baking, which has been a part of Pelahatchie for a decade already, is planning a major expansion of its baking operation.
The $8 million project should mean 50 or more new jobs for the area. The overall benefits to the community of the larger work force and increased payroll should be many times that.
But there's more going on in Pelahatchie than just businesses bringing new jobs to town. Officials there are also working to update the town's comprehensive plan, which is designed to forecast land use for the next 25 years and facilitate an update of zoning ordinances.
This sort of forward-looking work is what's needed to keep the good news flowing for Pelahatchie and other cities across the county.
New industries and new jobs don't just wander into communities. They're brought — and kept — by hard work and forward thinking.
